Everton eyeing a shock move for Nemanja Vidic

Everton are looking to make a swoop for former Manchester United star Nemanja Vidic

Everton have conducted some shrewd business in the transfer window by securing the services of Tom Cleverley, David Henen and Gerard Deulofeu so far and all three players look set to play a huge part for the Toffees during the upcoming campaign as well as the long term future of the club.

That said, Everton surely need to make few more signings in order to be able to sufficiently challenge for a European spot following their torrid campaign last term and signing a new defender will be high on the priority list for manager Roberto Martinez.

Following the departures of Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz this summer, Everton are a bit light in the defensive department at the moment and one can be sure that Martinez will be looking to recruit a new central defender before the end of the transfer window.

A host of names have been linked with a move to Goodison Park in the past few weeks and now in shock reports, it has been claimed that the Toffees are eyeing a move for former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic.

Nemanja Vidic

Vidic a shock target for Everton

Vidic joined Inter Milan at the start of last season following a hugely successful stay at Premier League giants Manchester City but the defender endured a torrid time at the San Siro.

As a result, it is widely being reported that Inter are looking to offload Vidic this summer and a move back to the Premier League had been seen on the cards for the former Serbian international.

Manchester United was said to be the preferred destination for Vidic but now according to reports emerging out of England, it has been claimed that even Everton have joined in the race to sign the 33-year old.

Martinez is a big fan of Vidic and is hoping to lure the defender to Goodison Park this summer. At 33, Vidic is not getting any younger but there is no doubting his quality as well as tremendous success in the Premier League and the Serbian powerhouse could well be a risk worth taking for the Toffees.
