Everton plotting a move for Dutchman as potential Baines replacement

Premier League outfit Everton are eyeing up a move for PSV Eindhoven defender Jurich Carolina, according to reports from Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.

Leighton Baines has been a wonderful servant for Everton ever since joining the club from Wigan Athletic back in 2007 and he is still going strong for the Toffees despite his advancing years.

While Baines most certainly still has a few years left in his locker, the 32-year-old clearly cannot go on forever and as a result, Everton will be well served by starting to look for replacements for the veteran defender.

A host of candidates have been brought forward as potential heir to Baines’ left-back position at Goodison Park and now according to reports from Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, claims have been made that Everton are currently eyeing up a swoop for PSV Eindhoven youngster Jurich Carolina.

Carolina is a talented young defender who is currently plying his trade for the PSV Eindhoven second team and the 18-year-old is yet to make a first team appearance for the Eredivisie side.

Nonetheless, Carolina has been able to attract the interest from a host of clubs due to his fine performances for the reserve side and Everton boss Ronald Koeman has been made aware of the youngster, given his connections at PSV.

Reports now claim that Everton are interested in signing Carolina and the Premier League side could well make their move for the teenage sensation before the end of the current January transfer window.
