Swansea City vs Everton – Match Ratings

Everton were flying high following their wonderful victory over Chelsea and the Toffees managed to follow it up with another very good performance in the 0-0 draw against Swansea City.

Up against a Swans’ side which has proven their credentials against the best teams, Everton put in a top performance and were a bit unlucky not to have earned all three points from the game.

Here is an analysis of the performance of the Everton players on the day –

Player Rating

Comment
Tim Howard – 7

Tim Howard has been in fine form so far this season and the American international looked strong as ever in goal against Swansea City.

While Howard did not particularly have much to do, he made a couple of fine saves.

Tyias Browning – 7.5

Browning

With Seamus Coleman out, Tyias Browning stepped in and performed admirably.

The young right back displayed a lot of maturity and managed to keep the dangerous Jefferson Montero quiet.

Phil Jagielka – 8

4

Up against the dangerous Bafetimbi Gomis, Phil Jagielka knew he was in for a tough ride but the England international was more than up for the challenge.

Jagielka did not put a foot wrong during the clash and it was a top class performance from the Everton skipper.

John Stones – 8.5

Stones

With every passing week, Everton seem to be justified with their decision not to allow John Stones to leave the club for Chelsea.

Stones has been sensational so far this season and he put in a man of the match performance in the draw against Swansea City.

Stones stole the show with his fine display and he simply did not allow the Swans’ attack even a sniff at goal.

Brendan Galloway – 7.5

Galloway

Brendan Galloway has done a brilliant job in deputizing for the injured Leighton Baines.

Galloway has looked more comfortable over the weeks and following on from his blinder against Chelsea, the youngster was very solid once again in the game against Swansea.

Gareth Barry – 7

6

Gareth Barry has been quietly solid so far this season and the veteran continued his good form with another good performance against Swansea City.
Steven Naismith – 6.5

9

Steven Naismith earned his place in the starting lineup following his brilliant performance against Chelsea.

However, Naismith did not enjoy the best of outings against Swansea City as he did not see enough of the ball.

James McCarthy – 7

7

James McCarthy has been the perfect foil for Barry and the duo combined well at the middle of the park once again to control the game for Everton.

Although Everton did not manage to claim the win, the presence of McCarthy meant that the Toffees put in a strong performance as a team.

Ross Barkley – 8

134

Ross Barkley seems to have earned his confidence back this season and he was once again Everton’s most dangerous player during the 0-0 draw against Swansea City.

While Barkley did not provide the breakthrough, he kept the Swansea backline under a lot a pressure with his running on the ball.

Arouna Kone – 6

Kone

Arouna Kone has been a key player for Everton this season but his performance against Swansea City was average at best.
Romelu Lukaku – 5.5

11

Romelu Lukaku made a host of chances throughout the course of the game but as is the case so many times, the striker was unable to finish.

Lukaku’s profligacy most certainly cost Everton the victory on the day and manager Roberto Martinez will surely be demanding better from the striker.

Substitutes

Gerard Deulofeu – NA

Deulofeu

Deulofeu came on as a substitute and the winger put the Swansea backline on their toes with his cameo.
Kevin Mirallas – 0

8

Mirallas was undoubtedly the flop of the game for Everton as he got himself sent off only two minutes after coming on.
