Everton bracing themselves for improved Stones offer from Chelsea

Chelsea are set to return with an improved offer for John Stones after having their initial bid for the defender rejected

It is easy for the media to get carried away in their hype for an up and coming English player and there is currently a lot of attention surrounding Everton star John Stones.

Brought in by former Everton manager David Moyes, Stones has enjoyed two brilliant seasons under Roberto Martinez and while all the hype around him could be detrimental, it would not be an overstatement to say that the young defender is the real deal.

A player with wonderful ability, Stones seems to have the mature head to match his tremendous talents and those who have analyzed the defender closely have all agreed that he has a big future in the game.

With Stones’ rise to prominence in such a fantastic fashion, it has been no surprise to see the defender being courted by some of the very best teams in the world and recently, Chelsea have ramped up their pursuit for the 22-year old.

With John Terry entering the twilight of his career, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is said to have identified Stones as the long term successor to the Blues’ captain at Stamford Bridge.

Various reports emerging out of England had reported yesterday that Chelsea had placed a bid of around £20million for Stones but it was immediately rebuffed by Everton as they are not willing to let go of their prized asset.

However, Chelsea are remaining persistent in their pursuit for Stones and it can now be revealed that the Premier League Champions are set to return with an improved offer for the English central defender.

Chelsea are now looking to test Everton’s resolve by placing a bid of around £28million for Stones and such a whopping fee is sure to make the Toffees consider the offer.

Everton would most certainly not want to lose their prized asset anytime soon but the offer certainly represents good value for money for a defender whom the club paid only £3million to sign from Barnsley two seasons ago and it will be interesting to see if the Toffees decide to accept the recent offer from Chelsea.
