James McCarthy demands a move away from Everton

Everton midfielder James McCarthy has reportedly demanded a move away from Goodison Park this summer

Everton manager Roberto Martinez displayed a huge signal of his faith in the abilities of James McCarthy after splashing a sizeable £13million to secure the services of James McCarthy upon his appointment at Goodison Park two years ago.

McCarthy became the club’s second most expensive acquisition and there was most certainly a lot of expectations put on the shoulders of the Republic of Ireland international at the blue half of Merseyside.

Nonetheless, McCarthy was not fazed by the weight of expectation put on his shoulders and the midfielder has proven himself to be one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League throughout the course of the last two seasons.

Understandably, there has been a lot of interest generated in McCarthy following his fine displays and it has been widely reported that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to lure the 24-year old to White Hart Lane by placing a bid of around £25million this summer.

Everton most certainly are not keen on seeing McCarthy depart the club but doubts have emerged regarding the long term future of the 24-year old at Goodison Park in recent times.

It is believed that McCarthy is not particularly pleased with his contractual situation at the club and is said to be demanding improved terms if he is to stay at Everton for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

In a development which is surely set to worry the Everton fans, it has now been claimed that McCarthy’s demands for a new contract has not been met and as a result, the midfielder is demanding a move away from Merseyside imminently.

Everton are seemingly struggling to keep hold of their keep players such as John Stones and Kevin Mirallas and the potential departure of McCarthy is surely set to be a huge blow for Everton.
