Borussia Dortmund are looking to sign Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports from the Liverpool Echo

In what has been a roller coaster season for Everton, Romelu Lukaku has been one of the few pillars of consistencies and his 25 goals so far during the current campaign has been crucial in helping the Toffees give themselves a chance of earning European football next term.

Given the fact that Everton have not been able to match Lukaku’s ambitions, it has been no surprise to see the striker making noises that he is hoping to earn a move to a bigger club and recently admitted that he would like to move to a Champions League playing team next season.

He said when asked if he needs to be playing in the Champions League on a regular basis,, “Yes, of course. That’s the next step for me. I’m 23 next summer and it would be nice to play in the Champions League from next season.

“(Other clubs) are keeping an eye on me. I have an agent who is dealing with this at the moment. I just want to be good, help my team-mates (at Everton) win the games and score a lot of goals.”

The likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United have been mentioned as potential destinations for Lukaku and now according to reports from the Liverpool Echo, it has been revealed that even Borussia Dortmund have joined in the race to sign the 22-year old.

Dortmund are bracing themselves for interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the upcoming summer and if they do indeed lose their star man, the Bundesliga side have identified Lukaku as the ideal replacement.
