Everton could land Gerard Deulofeu for just £3million

Everton are reportedly on the verge of completing a £3million move for Barcelona star Gerard Deulofeu

With the impending departure of Kevin Mirallas, Everton manager Roberto Martinez is on the look out to sign a new winger and a host of names such as Dimitri Payet, Aaron Lennon and Ahmed El Mohamady have been linked with a move to Goodison Park over the past few weeks or so.

Now in another link, it has been claimed that Everton are planning a swoop for Barcelona star Gerard Deulofeu this summer. Deulofeu spent the 2013/14 Premier League campaign on loan at Everton and he managed to win over the fans with his wonderful performances.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez was keen on recruiting Deulofeu last season as well but the youngster decided to join La Liga side Sevilla instead. The winger’s spell at Sevilla was anything but fruitful though, as he was limited to just a handful of appearances due to his strained relationship with manager Unai Emery.

As a result, Deulofeu is unlikely to make a return to Sevilla while his long term future at Barcelona remains in doubt because of fierce competition for places in the attacking positions.

Deulofeu is said to be open to the idea of leaving Barcelona on a permanent basis in order to aid the development of his career and according to reports emerging out of England, Everton are keen on taking advantage of the situation by swooping in to sign the winger.

It has been claimed that Everton are planning a cheeky £3million bid for Deulofeu and Barcelona could well accept the bid if a buy back clause is included in the deal.

While it remains to be seen whether Deulofeu will be keen on a move to Everton on a permanent deal, the 21-year old enjoyed a very good relationship with manager Roberto Martinez and the potential transfer could benefit all the three parties involved.
