Match Preview: Manchester United vs Everton

Old Trafford

Venue: Old Trafford

Date: 04/03/2016

Kick-off: 16:00 (BST)

Match

Everton continued their frustratingly inconsistent campaign in the Premier League after succumbing to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal ahead of the international break and it looks all but certain that the Toffees will now be unable to finish in one of the European positions this season.

As a result, Everton have very little to play for in the league but this does not mean that manager Roberto Martinez will allow his players to put in anything less than a 100% from now till the end of the campaign, especially as he is coming under a lot of pressure.

Up next for Everton is a clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford and one can be sure that the encounter will be another huge test for the Red Devils.

Everton Team News

Everton are still without the services of Tony Hibbert, Darron Gibson and Steven Pienaar while Gareth Barry remains unavailable due to suspension.

Joel Robles, Bryan Oviedo, Seamus Coleman and Phil Jagielka will be the players starting at the back for Everton on the day while Muhamed Besic should get an extended run at the middle of the park alongside James McCarthy.

In the attacking positions, Aaron Lennon, Ross Barkley and Tom Cleverley are most likely to be featuring while Romelu Lukaku will certainly pose a threat to the shaky looking United backline.

Probable Lineups

Manchester United (Probable XI): De Gea; Rojo, Blind, Smalling, Darmain; Schneiderlin, Carrick, Martial, Lingard, Mata; Rashford

Everton (Probable XI): Robles; Oviedo, Jagielka, Funes Mori, Coleman; McCarthy, Besic, Cleverley, Barkley, Lennon; Lukaku

Last Meeting

17/10/2015 Everton 0 – 3 Manchester United

26/04/2015 Everton 3 – 0 Manchester United

Prediction

Everton suffered an extremely disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United during the corresponding fixture earlier on in the campaign and the Toffees will surely want to exact revenge on Sunday.

Everton do not enjoy the best of records at Old Trafford though and given their erratic form at the moment, no one can say with certainty that the Toffees will be able to claim a victory this weekend.

The match should be an interesting affair though and it looks like United will be able to see off Everton with the odd goal on the day.

Manchester United 2 – 1 Everton
