Match Preview: Arsenal vs Everton

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Date: 24/10/2015

Kick-off: 17:30 (BST)

Match

Everton travel to the Emirates Stadium to square off against Arsenal this weekend and the Toffees will surely be keen on getting over their disappointment against Manchester United with a good performance on the day.

Everton’s fine run was brought to an unceremonious halt last weekend with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United and there are certainly very few positives from the clash to look back upon for the Toffees.

Now manager Roberto Martinez will surely be keen on his side to get over their loss against United by delivering a response this weekend but it will be anything but easy as the Toffees now prepare for a tough clash away from home against in-form Arsenal.

Everton Team News

Everton still are without the likes of Leighton Baines, Muhamed Besic, Tony Hibbert and Steven Pienaar for the clash but as a boost, Tom Cleverley could be fit in time to feature on the bench at the Emirates.

Tim Howard will be the man starting in goal for Everton while the backline should remain unchanged despite their poor performance against United, with Seamus Coleman, John Stones, Phil Jagielka and Brendan Galloway starting.

In midfield, the duo of Gareth Barry and James McCarthy are certain starters but there might be a couple of changes in the advanced midfield positions.

Ross Barkley is likely to keep his place but Steven Naismith and Aaron Lennon could make way for Gerard Deulofeu and Arouna Kone respectively. The trio of Kevin Mirallas, Aiden McGeady and Leon Osman will also provide Martinez options to select from.

Romelu Lukaku was left isolated during the clash against United and the Belgian international will now be hoping for better service during this weekend against Arsenal.

Probable Lineups

Arsenal (Probable XI): Cech; Monreal, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Bellerin; Cazorla, Coquelin, Sanchez, Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Walcott

Prediction

Everton do not enjoy the best of records against Arsenal, having managed to claim only one victory in their last seventeen encounters with the Gunners.

In addition, Arsenal’s wonderful form heading into the clash means that they have to be considered favourites this weekend.

Wenger

Wenger’s Arsenal look favourites ahead of the clash

Nonetheless, Everton do have it in them to be able to cause an upset and one can be sure that the Toffees will give Arsenal a tough time on the day.

Arsenal have too much quality for Everton and should be able to win the game but expect a very close encounter between the two sides.

Arsenal 2 – 1 Everton
