Bournemouth vs Everton – Match Ratings

Lukaku

Everton extended their unbeaten run to five matches following a 3-3 draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday but Toffees manager Roberto Martinez would perhaps have been left aggrieved that his side were not able to claim all three points from the clash.

Establishing a two goal lead heading into the 80th minute and once again claiming the lead in injury time, Everton looked destined to claim a victory on the day but some slack defending meant that the Toffees came home with only a point to their name.

Here is an analysis of the performance of the Everton players on the day –

Comment

Tim Howard – 6

Tim Howard was very busy throughout the game and he did pull off some fine saves throughout the course of the game.

However, Howard would perhaps feel that he could have done more in denying Junior Stanislas on both occasions.

Seamus Coleman – 6.5

2

Coleman did not put his best performance at the back but his attacking prowess at the other end helped Everton create a host of chances.

Coleman seemed to have fashioned the winner by handing an assist to Barkley late on but he could not help the Toffees hold on.

Ramiro Funes Mori – 6.5

Mori

Mori managed his first goal for Everton with a towering header during the first half and the Argentine put in a good performance till the 80th minute.

However, Mori looked hapless for the last 10 minutes of the game and lack of commanding defending allowed Bournemouth to score three at the death.

John Stones – 5.5

Stones

John Stones did not enjoy the best of performances during the game and this can be evidence by the fact that Everton conceded thrice.

Nonetheless, Stones did make a crucial goal line clearance in the first half and it was the highlight of the young man’s performance on the day.

Brendan Galloway – 5

Galloway

Usually a solid presence, young Brendan Galloway struggled at the back to deal with the threat posed by Adam Smith.

The match would have been a valuable lesson for the left back though and the difficult experience will only make him a better player.

Gerard Deulofeu – 6.5

Deulofeu

Deulofeu grabbed another assist on the day by producing a fine ball for Romelu Lukaku’s goal.

However, the winger failed to deliver consistent service and it proved to be a frustrating game for the Spaniard in the second period.

James McCarthy – 6.5

7

James McCarthy looked solid before being forced off during the second half due to an injury.

McCarthy’s abrupt departure certainly contributed to Everton’s collapse late on.

Gareth Barry – 6.5

6

Barry kept things neat and tidy alongside McCarthy at the middle of the park but the captain perhaps should have used his experience more to help Everton hold on to their lead during the final embers of the game.
Ross Barkley – 7

134

Ross Barkley gave the ball away on far too many occasions throughout the game but it seemed like the attacking midfielder had scored the winner late on with a smart finish.

Unfortunately, Barkley’s moment in the limelight was stolen away from him by Junior Stanislas.

Arouna Kone – 5.5

Kone

Kone has looked ineffective since his fine hat trick against Sunderland and the Ivorian international did not enjoy the best of games despite Everton finding the back of the net on three occasions.
Romelu Lukaku – 7.5

11

Romelu Lukaku has been the talisman for Everton so far this season and the young Belgian striker scored his 10th goal of the current campaign with a well taken strike.

However, Lukaku would have been frustrated that his goal was not enough to guide the Toffees to a victory.

Cleverley

Tom Cleverley replaced the injured James McCarthy in the second half but was unable to get a grip on the game and was partly at fault for Everton’s late debacle.

Aaron Lennon  – NA

Lennon

A late sub in search of the winner.

Gibson

Did not have much time to make much of an impact as a late entry into the game.
