Everton FC looking at World Cup star

Stunning goals, dramatic upsets, passionate crowds and exhilarating action – the FIFA World Cup returning to football’s spiritual home in Brazil has certainly lived upto all expectation.

While it is anybody’s guess as to which team will now go on to triumph come July the 13th, there have been plenty of players who have impressed and one can certainly expect a host of clubs to be fighting it out in an attempt to secure the services of some of the top performers at the World Cup following the conclusion of the tournament.

Among the players who have made an impression, Ecuador’s Enner Valencia has certainly caught the imagination. The 25-year old has scored 3 goals in 2 appearances for his country at the World Cup and has given the South American side every chance of making it through to the knockout stages of the competition.

It is not just Valencia’s performances at the World Cup which has been impressive. The striker now boasts a record seven goals in his last six appearances for the Ecuador national team, while he also enjoyed a fine campaign at club level this season, scoring 18 goals in just 23 appearances for Mexican side Pachuca.

As a result, it has not been too much of a surprise to see a host of top clubs expressing their interest in signing Valencia and among them – Everton have also been mentioned as admirers of the striker.

With Romelu Lukaku unlikely to make a return to Goodison Park in the summer, the Toffees have been linked with a host of striker over the last few months, with the likes of Carlos Bacca, Jordan Rhodes and Danny Welbeck being mentioned as targets.

However, following Valencia’s fine performances at the World Cup, it is believed that Everton have now switched their attention in signing the Ecuadorian star.

While it remains to be seen whether the transfer comes into fruition, Valencia certainly looks like a very good player and could prove to be a useful addition for the Everton attack which has been depleted by the departure of Lukaku.
