Everton FC looking to make a surprise swoop for winger

It is no secret that Everton enjoyed a fantastic campaign last season, where the Toffees came agonizingly close to claiming a Champions League spot.

As a result, manager Roberto Martinez was widely lauded for not just leading Toffees to a lofty 5th placed finish but also implementing a brilliantly watchable style of play which was not prevalent at Goodison Park during former manager David Moyes’ reign.

However, undoubtedly an even tougher task for Martinez will be consolidating on the current campaign’s exploits next season as well. It is expected that no less than six teams will be challenging for Champions League football and all of them seemingly possess a bigger squad as well as more financial muscle than Everton.

Therefore, the Toffees will certainly need to strengthen their side in order harbor dreams of making it into the Champions League next season and do so judiciously.

Recently the Toffees had been linked with a move for Ecuador star Enner Valencia and now reports have claimed that Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie is being courted by the Merseyside club.

It is believed that Martinez is readying a bid of around £3million in order to lure Bolasie to Goodison Park in the summer. Although not exactly the big name player Everton would perhaps be hoping to sign, Bolasie was vital in Crystal Palace’s miraculous survival last season and is bit of a handful when on form.

With Gerard Deulofeu leaving the club, Everton certainly do require a winger capable of turning games around and Bolasie could fit the bill perfectly.

Even if the Crystal Palace man does not turn out to be a success, at £3million, the 25-year old is certainly a risk worth taking.

However, despite Everton being linked with a host of names, the Toffees are not expected to complete the signing of any player before the conclusion of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
